[Lombok] - Gili Meno (길리 메노)

Welcome to meheartseoul humble blog, where I share my unforgettable sweet memories  The boat was anchored when we're nearby Gili Meno (길리 메노)...

Shallow water though it's quite far from the beach.

My hubby was still resting and not joining me for snorkeling.

I only snorkeled for 10 - 15 minutes, because I felt bad leaving my hubby alone on the boat. The second reason was because the boatman joined me to snorkel. Well, I'm a good swimmer so I don't need anyone to hold my hand or touch my body.  So fed up that I prompted him not to hold me or restricted my movements as I wanted to take photos. But, he still did so, therefore I decided to stop snorkeling and told him that I wanted to see how's my hubby doing.

To summarize, for your safety, it's better to travel with family or group especially for ladies. It's not like Bali where nobody will really care or stare at you if you're in bikini.

Worse than Gili Trawangan, I didn't see fish in Gili Meno, but Colony of coral reefs...

Lombok Gili Meno (길리 메노) | www.meheartseoul.blogspot.sg
Massive  Massive coral reefs - Acropora formosa and Astreopora Expansa.

The combination of staghorn Acropora formosa and Astreopora Expansa
look like plates of rose petals and thorns, don't they?

Predominantly, Astreopora Expansa has brown, greenish and some in combination with pink, rose or violet colors.

  Rainforests of the sea.

Corals are made of colonies of tiny animals called polyps, which each polyp contains lots of tiny algae. They gain their color from these symbiotic algae, so without them, they appear white.

Coral reef are most commonly found at shallow depths in tropical waters forming the most diverse ecosystems on Earth. They occupy less than 0.1% of the world's ocean surface, yet they provide a home for at least 25% of all marine species.

[Lombok] - Mawun Beach

Welcome to meheartseoul humble blog, where I share my unforgettable sweet memories
Mawun is another stunning beach just 20 minutes drive from Selong Belanak Beach

I personally think these two beaches look quite similar with
crescent shaped and laid-back landscape,...

[Lombok] - Mawun Beach | www.meheartseoul.blogspot.com
Amazing view with white sandy beach. But, sand here not as fine as Selong Belanak.
Maybe like coarse sugar vs powdery flour?

[Lombok] - Mawun Beach | www.meheartseoul.blogspot.com
Am I in my dream? Totally mesmerized by those white fluffy clouds
floating across the blue sky, and...

gorgeous crystal clear light cobalt  water.

Why not strolling at the shoreline and

[Lombok] - Mawun Beach | www.meheartseoul.blogspot.com   [Lombok] - Mawun Beach | www.meheartseoul.blogspot.com
let the playful waves hit your feet.

Nice place to spend an hour to unwind, but I still prefer Selong Belanak.

[Lombok] - Mawun Beach | www.meheartseoul.blogspot.com
Slightly disturbed by the peddlers selling coconut, pineapple, t-shirt,
sarong, bracelets,... from the moment I stepped out from the car.

They were quite aggressive though I politely rejected them in Bahasa Indonesia.

Actually, I bought a bracelet from a young boy when I took photos of Kuta beach outside the restaurant. I pitied him as I think he's only 8-10 years old. Then, after finished our lunch, another girl also came to us and asking for money when I told her that I'd bought earlier.

Why local government not doing anything? It's better to set stalls for them. Tourists will definitely buy if they want or need. Pestering or force selling will only annoyed tourists, where they come to enjoy and relax.

Nice to sit down and enjoy the scenery and sea breeze, but

Sad to see those empty coconut shells, plastics and
rubbish were just laying on the beach.

[Lombok] - Mawun Beach | www.meheartseoul.blogspot.com
Hope that these rubbish not washed away by the waves
when it's high tide and polluted the waters.

Frankly speaking, I don't really blame foreign tourists. Most of them from developed countries and  don't have habit for littering. Beach-lovers especially, they love nature and would love to see clean beach every time they visit.

 Please keep Mawun Beach clean...

Most of the beaches in Indonesia have the same fate because local government and residents just don't really care. They charged for entrance, parking, loungers, toilets, and everything.

I don't think it's hard to put at least rubbish or recycle bins if they don't want to collect those shells? They don't have long term thinking. They're the one who lose when tourists not visiting anymore when they found out that it's dirty. That's also means no income for them... Sigh!

We did take back our water bottles and trashes.

Will you help to do the same for the sake of our children and grand children?

Don't you agree that they love to see a piece of heaven on earth too?
