You know kids easily feel hungry because of their
good metabolism. And adults easily have itchy mouth.

Did you spot intriguing things among these bottles of wine?

From what I read (highlighted in red color on the bottle), it's for adult 19 years and above. So, judging by the stated recommended and the backside of the cup, you can tell that this 벌떡주 must be energy boasting Potent Potion for man!

Hanji mulberry paper.

Until this moment, I'm still amazed by the durability of Hanji paper. When I visited Jeonju Sago, the guide told us the reason why Joseon Wangjo Sillok was written on the Hanji.

Historian (Sagwan) wrote drafts (Sacho) of the Annals of Joseon Dynasty on Hanji too. Then after they compiled and published the Sillok, they washed away the ink and reuse the Hanji to write Sacho of the next king.

Korean Totem Pole (장승 = jangseung).

Jangseung, the village guardian which erected at the entrance of the village that bearing some resemblance to the dolhareubang with bulging eyes, a fist-like nose, and protruding front teeth. Folks believed these poles symbolizing guardian god that can protect the village from evil spirit and others harms.

First love never dies @Omokdae Pavilion...
the romantic atmosphere stole my heart!

Too bad, we couldn't rest inside the pavilion because the floor was wet by the melted snow. This area has been a popular destination for locals as well as tourists. But, we didn't see the crowd that day because it's too cold.

To be frank, I was quite hesitated to take off my jacket. But, because I wanted to have nice  Hanbok outdoor photos with Hanok structures, then must sacrifice a bit... as always no pain, no gain! Therefore, I grinned cheerfully and walking proudly as if as Joseon citizen!

I was amazed with my hotpack, which seemed always worked at the wrong timing and wrong place. So, when you needed them most, they're as good as cold pack... Sigh~!!!

[Jeonju Sago] - Joseon Wangjo Sillok (조선 왕조 실록)

Cheongyeonru Pavilion (청연루) - a must visit Tourist Attraction in Jeonju| by Meheartseoul
Jeonju Sago wooden building was specially designed and constructed with raised floor to avoid wet when raining and good ventilation. It's now housing copy of Joseon Wangjo Sillok (Annals of the Joseon Dynasty). Before that, these Annals were stored in Seunguisa Temple located in Jeonju castle, then moved to the Jinnammu Pavilion in the rear garden of the temple's guest house.

Jeonju Sago (전주 사고).

This Jeonju Sago building which holds the Annals of the Joseon Dynasty appears in episode 10 of  “Love in the Moonlight.”, when Ra-on hurts her foot. The Crown Prince becomes jealous when seeing the other eunuchs assisting Ra-on here. He punished Ra-on with a kiss on her cheek as she didn't obey his order.

Busy Sagwan (사관inside Chunchugwan (춘추관).

The guide told us a story... King Sejong ever asked the historian to let him read his Father's Sillok. As at that time, King was not allowed to read or review them, they told King Sejong that if he did so, Sagwan will record it in his Sillok. At the end, King Sejong gave up after listened to that statement.

Haha... It's kinda funny! I think sagwan really did good job to keep records of the actual details! And I'm amazed by the durability and recycling process of hanji paper...

Procedure on preservation of Sillok and discarding method of Sacho.

Evacuation and Repositories of Sillok.

The original Sillok are kept in the Gyujanggak Archives in Seoul National University, and they're available online for reading. These Sillok were written in classical Chinese even after King Sejong invented Hangul.

Therefore, I've to wait until they translated them to English or maybe watch more Saeguk dramas, which well-written story lines were based on cultural & historical references from Annals. Though, sometimes they added some fictional characters and situations in "Princess' Man" that made it more dramatic, romantic and spectacular to watch.

I'm currently watching Gunman in Joseon plotting in Emperor Gojong's reign. However, the Annals of Last Two Emperors (King Gojong and King Sunjong) not included in Joseon Wangjo Sillok because they're written during the Japanese occupation in Korea, which the compilation might have been influenced by Japanese as well as the falsification of historical events.

Jeonju Hanok Village Hotel (전주한옥빌리지호텔)

Accommodation: Jeonju Hanok Village Hotel (전주한옥빌리지호텔) | by Meheartseoul
We traveled 3 hours from Busan to Suncheon, then waited for about 30 minutes to transfer to normal train. It took another 1 hour from Suncheon to Jeonju. In total we spent 4 hours on railroad. Actually, we just want to experience S-train. ^^

Simple yet pleasant looking Jeonju Station...

From the station, we took taxi to hotel, but the driver dropped us at wrong place. We walked around but couldn't find the hotel. We asked few people and we ended up walked here and there, as they gave different directions. Luckily, another man asked us to follow him after he called the hotel. And he walked us to Pungnammun and pointed to us the direction to our hotel. Thank you kind Ahjusshi. ^^

Finally, we arrived at the hotel after wandering for half and hour around Joongang Elementary School. The hotel is actually situated in the heart of the city. Pungnam Mun, Gyeonggijeon, Jeongdong Church and other attraction sites are just about 5 to 10 minutes walk away.

In Jeonju Hanok Village, of course you'll want to stay in Hanok and experience Han-style. In our previous trip, we stayed in 300 years Hanok house in Seongyojang, but that time was autumn so it's just normal without ondol floor.

Partial painting of famous Scenery of Dano Day outside the hotel.

When I browsed the rooms, I found this stylish yet with traditional Han-style hotel with attached bathroom, and some familiar paintings of famous painters Shin Yun-Bok (Hye-Won) and Kim Hong-Do (Danwon) of Joseon Dynasty.

Hahaha... yup, you're right! I watched Painter of the Wind (바람의 화원).  So, I decided to stay here for 2 nights. ^^

Shin Yun-Bok's paintings.
Top - Dance with two swords (쌍검대무).
Bottom - Pillars of the Tavern (주사거배).

Cool! I stood and looked at the door for awhile... and somehow it's like rewinding drama scenes of these two paintings in my head. Do you still remember? Danwon painted Ssireum (씨름) for 'Fight' topic, and People at the Tavern (주막) for 'Tavern' topic.

Cozy room with simple wooden furniture, mattress, flat-screen television, mini fridge in good-size room. Mattress, pillows and blanket were nicely fold and keep at the corner of the room.

They're using durable Korean Hanji paper for walls and windows, and loess (황토) for the floor. Loesspension, where we stayed in Punggi also using loess, as it's effectively keeping the room cold in summer and warm in winter.

Excellent service rendered by friendly woman receptionist during our stay. Their system didn't captured my reservation as no payment made for room rate of 70,000 Won per day.

She asked me which room we want, but I forgot the name of the room witYun-Bok's paintings. She didn't know which room, she opened almost all the vacant rooms from third floor to first floor for us to see. Finally we found it at first floor...추억 room.

She also helped us to call and wait for the taxi when we check-out early in the morning. Thank you and sorry for the trouble...
