[Muju Ski Resort] - Haejangguk 'Hangover' Soup

To hunt for dinner, we'd to go back to Carnival Street because majority of restaurants, cafes and shops are located there.

It seemed that spicy hot soup is the best choice to keep our body warm. So, without further delay, we went in and quickly order the food.

My husband ordered Soft Tofu Stew again, and Pork Ribs Haejangguk for me after asked and confirmed that it's pork instead of beef.

엄마가 해주시던 등뼈해장국이 생각나는 날

Haejangguk is a famous food in Korea. It's  a traditional cure for hangover after a night of heavy drinking, therefore it's known as 'Hangover soup'.

There are various types of haejangguk according to region based on ingredients and recipe that give each variety its own characteristic taste. 

The haejangguk broth was quite  flavourful to my taste buds with acceptable spiciness and sweetness. Pretty unique and appetizing... my first time had this kind of taste.

It's so yummy that I wanted to ask them how to cook it, but maybe even if they're willing to teach me, I won't really understand. But, I do understand why they stated "엄마가 해주시던 등뼈해장국이 생각나는 날" on the banner after I tasted it. Do try it if you're dining there.

I literally wiped out the whole bowl until the last drop of the broth, though most of the ribs ended in my hubby's tummy.

Both of us happy and satisfied with delicious taste of the soup!

The meal served with 6 types of banchan and rice. They also provide self-serving coffee, they asked us to get from coffee machine when we're paying for the food. We just skipped it as my husband didn't want them to wait for us any longer since we're the only customers in the restaurant.

 It's low season in Muju Ski Resort, therefore most of the restaurants were empty. 

The interior is decorated with pots of green herbs, bouquet of flower...

and Korean traditional straw sandal?!!

 kinda weird to see they hang and put Jipsin (짚신) as decoration.

[Jeonju] - Hyanggyo Confucian School (전주향교)

Manhwaru, the two-story pavilion-like structure that functioned as the main gate of the Hyanggyo

and Daeseongjeon (Confucian Shrine hall).

The Jeonju hyanggyo was originally located at Gyeonggijeon, but moved to a nearby spot in 1603.

The mortuary tablets of seven Chinese Confucian scholars and 18 Korean scholars 

are enshrined in the main building of Daeseongjeon.

Memorial tablets of Confucius, Anja, Jasa, Jeungza and Maengja.

The altars display memorial tablets that occupy individual chair-like stands behind pairs of nestable tables. The smaller table is equipped with a single drawer. During the Joseon period when the school was functioning, there would of course have been various offerings and furnishings (vessels, incense, etc.) displayed on the tables.

This exterior of Myeongnyundang lecture hall serves as Ra-on’s and Kim Byung-yeon residence in Korean Drama “Love in the Moonlight”. The yard before the hall is also the scene where Ra-on offers a chicken leg to the Crown Prince, as well as where Kim Yoon-sung spent many happy moments with the Crown Prince when they were young.

The school's five-bay 'Myungryundang' Lecture Hall occupies pride of place 

in the inner courtyard. In all, there are a total of 99 rooms in the Jeonju Hyanggyo.

How is everything? Yap, I'm back after missing for 2 weeks as I spent my time to participate in "Korea, My Love Contest" and also "Master Planner Challenge 2014" for that one reason! I think you know the reason... Yes, I want to go to Korea!!! Although I knew that it's not easy to win the first prize, but to do my best. Ok, luck was not on my side, so not going to see beautiful autumn foliage in Korea. ㅠㅠ

There were few types of palanquin following procession of transferring King's portrait from Seoul to Jeonju including:

* palanquin for carrying king's ancestral tablets (Sinyeon 신연)

* palanquin for carrying incense burner (Hyangjeongia)

* palanquin for carrying ritual items (Chaeyeo)

* palanquin for King (Gagyo 가교)

Ceremonial accessories including dragon embroidered fan (Yeongseon), 

phoenix embroidered fan (Bongseon), blue parasol (cheonggae),
