[Jaman Mural] - Cafe DuImo (두이모카페)

Peeped inside DuImo Cafe (두이모), didn't see any customers inside, however it was bright inside and the door wasn't locked. Such a relieve to find this cafe opened as we walked past about five or six cafes closed.

The main reason we searched for cafe was because of my son. I went in to asked whether my son can use the toilet because of cold weather, and the owner was understanding and brought him inside. 

Actually, we planned to go back to Hanok Village for dinner, then have patpingsu at Grandma's Best Desserts Factory. However, it's not nice went inside just for toilet, so we decided to sit down and rest there since we'd long uphill walking from Jeonju to Omokdae and strolling around this art village.

The owner recommended us to order Bibimbap Waffle with hot drink set. But because promised the kiddos earlier, we'd to order Patpingsu. Imo was nice to convince us patpingsu not suitable and it's better to get hot drinks for cold day. But, kids still insisted to have it...

Kids and hubby settled down at the corner seats facing the window
and busy playing with their own gadgets.

I quickly switch on my camera and start to snap every corner of this cafe. I love the Relaxing atmosphere in this 'RIch' feeling cafe because the REtro interior, RUstic furniture and ROmantic decorations! Let me give this RAre unique cafe a nickname: QuinqueR (Ra-Ri-Ru-Re-Ro)!

Of course lots of selfies too, especially I was so free
to roam around as nobody there except us ;P

Now, kinda angry editing these photos because those photos
taken by my hubby turned out blur and no focus.


That's because he didn't move an inch from his seat,
just  using zoom and anyhow snap all these photos with me inside.

Tell me, should I angry or not?! It's so blur that I'd to sharpen and strengthen the edges before converted them to drawing. 

Do you agree that he should bring me to Korea to re-capture these photos as compensation?!

  

Bibimbap Waffle (비빔밥와플) - ₩4,000.

The exotic Bibimbap Waffle looked like Kebab.

It's filled with meat, cheese, vegetables, cabbage and pickles. They're rolled inside Vietnamese Spring Roll wrapper before cover it with the waffle. Then this neatly packed waffle was cut into half. 

Come and take a closer look. Wow... it's visually appetizing, right?!

BTW, the cute  paper wrapper should be using the real photos of 2 Aunts' portraits which highlighting shadows and light.

Let me try this for you... ;P

Amazing taste, not only looks good! This waffle was delicious and tantalising especially when you bite on the rice waffle because the texture was slightly like Nureungji crust (누룽지 = scorched rice).

I think they used Kimchi fried rice for the waffle as it's a bit spicy. What I can say it's really unique yet perfect combination! Nutritious and delicious snacks that truly satisfying!

 

But kids only took a bite and complained

that the waffle was too spicy...  

I think they just gave the best excuse to attack this Patpingsu 

and clear the spiciness on their tongue.

 "No worry, we've no problem with this Patpingsu!"

They're more than willingly to let us eat all the yummy waffles. Then they happily finished thissweet patpingsu. They literally clean the whole bowl themselve, as my hubby and I only got a scoop or two to taste.

 

Patpingsu (팥빙수) - ₩9,000.

This bowl is perfect for 2 person sharing. But, there's no problem if you give each of them one bowl. Nobody will resist sweet treats, right?

According to the owner, these tens of pitchers preserved fruits such as Yuja / Citron (유자), Quince Tea (모과) Grapefruit Tea (자몽), Jujube Tea (대추), Omija (오미자) were all homemade. 

You have options to drink it traditionally in hot or cold drinks, or have some kicks with fusion sparkling water. Nowadays a lot of cafe in Korea selling -Ade (에이드) drinks mostly fruits with Chilsaeng Cider. Maybe I should try to make my own Honey Lemon Ade or Wine Ade too.

After finished our food and went to the kitchen to pay. Of course I was thanking and praising them for delicious Bibimbap Waffle. 

 Only then Yoojin's Auntie asked me whether I know CLC

 girl group and pointing to the poster on the wall.

 

 I found out that this cafe owned by CLC (씨엘씨) 

Yoojin's (최유진) mother and auntie.

A plate of ripe persimmon was prepared for us as free service.

Kids love persimmon, but they never eat ripen one before. As you know, I'm very picky and don't like fruits, so this was my first time eating it. It's sweet and like eating jelly... I'd love to eat it again, but where to find ripe persimmon in Singapore?

[Apgujeong] - Ashley Queens World Gourmet Buffet (애슐리퀸즈 압구정점)

Cold weather added that we didn't eat much in the morning, causing our tummies grumbling while we're waiting for doctor's appointment.

 Ashley Queen (애슐리퀸즈).

I found out this restaurant because of Korean Drama 'She Was Pretty' (그녀는 예뻤다). If you remember the scene when Kim Shin-hyuk and Kim Hye-jin having a meal here where the background was the above photo showing lighted sign 'Ashley Queens'.

Googled to check this restaurant in Seoul, and found out that Ashley is chain restaurant. Ashley Queens is one of them, which operated since Dec 2014.

Ashley Queens, Ashley W, Ashley W+ and Ashley Queens, Ashley Marine are Salad Buffet Restaurant. The number and type of dishes serving on each restaurants resulting the difference in the prices. Besides that, they also have two premier restaurants: Ashley Brunch and 83Grill by Ashley.  

Ashley Brunch serving ala carte brunch set, salad, sandwich, pizza, pasta, cake and dessert. And for 83Grill by Ashley is classy complete course for lunch or dinner with amuse-bouche, appetizer, soup, main course (pasta / steak / fish), dessert, coffee or tea.

From the website, this restaurant looks pretty romantic, but it's located at E-World 83 Tower in Daegu. If I have a chance to go there, after my meal I'd like to top up 15,000 won for wine course. I bet the 360 degree view of entire city from 78 floor will be super awesome to enjoy it with a glass of wine or two.

 

But, the moment we arrived at the building, my hubby and I were 

wondering why this restaurant was so similar to 

 D'Maris Buffet Restaurant.


 We remembered that D'maris also located on the basement,
on the right after came down from the escalator.

Hhhmm weird! But at that time, we concluded that maybe some of the building
just look similar, and buffet restaurants like to rent the whole basement area!

The waitress led us to our seat, and it's actually quite crowded though from outside it seems like not so many customers. Great that we didn't have to wait because this restaurant is super spacious.

Posh grayish black blended well with eye-catching red color
especially under the bright luxurious lighting. Simply love the
tasty and outstanding decoration in this spacious restaurant.


Felt like stepping into fashion exhibition hall with
so many collection of dresses worn by famous celebrities.

 

'Queens' photos were artistically displaying on the walls.

Without wasting much time, we went one round to see, and we're sad to see the spread! It's too much food... and our main concern was how to select and eat them in such a short time!

Ashley Queens is really serving world Gourmet Buffet, as you can find signature dishes from Korea and others countries:

Bossam steamed Pork was served with Fermented Salted Shrimp (새우젓), Fermented Salted Oyster (어리굴젖), Young Radish Kimchi (열무김치), Radish Kimchi (보쌈무김치 ), Spicy Paste (쌈장), and leafy vegetables.

DIY your own Bibimbap with stirred fried pumpkin and mushroom, marinated Octopus, Seasoned spinach and laver.

Japanese Food : Sashimi | Sushi | Miso Soup

Italian Food : Pizza | Tomato pasta, seafood pasta, mushroom cream pasta

Grana Padano Hard Cheese, one of the most famous cheeses of Italy.

This is my kids favorite counter. My son was so addicted to eat Honey Potato Chip, and kept walking back and forth to refill his plate.

If you noticed, there were chefs or staffs behind every stations. They prepared, cooked and refilled the foods. It's really really fresh and delicious!

Actually, just sampling a bite size of 50% of the buffet spread enough to make us 3/4 full. So we skipped a lot of food such as fried rice, pasta, noodle, pizza, bibimbap, curry, salad,... some because we can easily find them elsewhere.

The other reason was we're rushing... only spent about 1 hour there as we need to arrive at Kidzania latest by 15:30 pm. Else we can enjoy and indulged more dishes. 

Let's go to Desserts corners for something sweet!

That's ended of our buffet session, and will sure go there again and again for the next trips. Super satisfied... It's really worth with such a sumptuous and quality spreads, yet so affordable and not making a hole to the wallet.

Actually, while dining half way my HP was beeping... notifying that it's light snow. So I delegated my hubby to check outside. He confirmed it, and four of us ran out of the restaurant like it's earthquake!

I'd to use sign language climbing up and down using my fingers to let the cashier know that we're going to see the snow outside. I was afraid that she will call police if she suspecting us eating and running out without paying. Hahaha... 

Tourists can pay nominal fee and hop on this Gangnam Trolley Bus

that will bring you around Apgujeong Rodeo Street, Bongeunsa Temple, 

Sinsadong Garosu-gil Road and other tourist spots in Gangnam. 

After checked and rechecked my photos and naver map.

I hereby confirmed that D'maris was located at this building, 

it's just they renamed the streets.
