Open Port Museum opened since 1883. It is about the modern cultures introduced through Incheon Port.
The museum is designated into 4 exhibition halls.
At the introduction section, video data of the first gated dock
and records of the first maritime vessels installed in Incheon Port are
displayed.
Lighthouse patrol ship and customs surveillance, data
related to the
postal system, telegrams and telephones and communication system
were introduced between Incheon and Seoul.
The
Film Academy is also displaying here.
The next exhibition room showcases the Korean railway and materials related to
Gyeongin Railway, the first railway in Korea. With the continuous and
gradual
development of 110 years, Korea KTX train is now
placed at the 5th fastest high-speed rail in the world.
The 3rd Exhibition Room is a themed exhibition room of the street views
before and after the opening the Incheon Port portrayed as
before and after the opening the Incheon Port portrayed as
stereoscopic street models and videos.
After the opening of the port, the
street in front of the current museum (1st Bank of Japan at the time)
was the centre of Japanese ancestry where banks, hotels, and shops were
concentrated. The model installed in this exhibition room is based on
photographs that were taken in the 1910s.
The 4th exhibition room is a themed exhibition room that
utilizes a vault from the time when it was used as a bank in the past.
