[Jeonju] - Hakindang (학인당)

On our way to Hyanggyo Confucian School, we passed by this 106 year old giwajip (tiled) hanok house. It's the house of Baek Nak-jung, a high-ranking official during the reign of King Gojong from the Joseon Dynasty.

Jeonju Hakindang (학인당) | meheartseoul.blogspot.com
This 106 year old hanok house has typical traditional Palace architecture
(it has a garden, pavilion and small pond, which surrounded by pine trees)
showing typical lifestyle of the nobility of the Joseon Dynasty.

Interesting history about Hakindang House.

Jeonju Hakindang (학인당) | meheartseoul.blogspot.com
This old house of "Inje" is now converted to guesthouse.
(Please check the link for more information).

Wanted to go inside to take some photos, but on the door there is a notice stated: "No-booked no admittance.  If you have pre-booked contact us +82-63-284-9929." So, it's only open for their guests.

I was quite stunned as few people crawled out from a 'hole' when
I was about to pose for a photo!

Jeonju Hakindang (학인당) | meheartseoul.blogspot.com
헐~! Unbelievable, huh?! How to go in and out
through this petite (in width and length) wooden door?!

Those people had to bend their head and body in order to go through that mini door. Actually, we thought that it;s for passing through things without opening the door. But, seriously... I'm pretty sure that my husband can't go in with his big tummy!  I think I'll have a hard time too :P

[Jeonju] - All That Barbecue (올댓바베큐) Salad Buffet

Recommended Food and place to chill in Jeonju: All That Barbecue (올댓바베큐) | by Meheartseoul
JIFF Street is an iconic of Jeonju, where you can experience vibrant shopping that Jeonju has to offer. Besides endless branded and local latest trend fashions, there are also plentiful big and small restaurants, cafes and stalls selling street foods.

Jeonju All That Barbecue (올댓바베큐) Salad Buffet | meheartseoul.blogspot.com
Korean / Western / Chinese / Asian cuisine.

Thanks to my sister for introducing "Tolak Angin" (Expel the Wind), Indonesian herbal syrup when I told her not sure whether I can survive the cold in Korea. She said it's good to keep body warm from inside. This is her little weapon to kill the chilly weather, as she often traveling.

Though quite skeptical, but since my sister asked my friend
(and also her friend) to buy and bring them for me from Indonesia...

I slipped them at the corners... totally forgot about it on the first 2 days. I want to share this because when editing the video of JIFF street for previous posting, I heard 2 ladies complained that it's so cold (추우), but we didn't feel it... We only wore normal longsleeves tee with pants / leggings with outer jacket. Normally I'm afraid of cold, and wrapped myself with scarf wherever I go.

This small sachet really worked wonder! It said that it's good to treat common cold and its symptoms, such as: fever, headache, sore throat. Maintain body defense mechanism during hard work, staying up all night and traveling. However, not sure where you can buy it outside of Indonesia.

Couldn't decide among all the choices of foods available. We went to a shopping mall to look for  washroom. Then, we decided to go up as we saw the banners of few restaurants near the escalator.

  All That Barbecue Buffet.

Decided to have buffet since it's almost 2 pm and we're really hungry. But, we still need to wait about 10 minutes before we're guided to our table...

Is it because small restaurant with limited seats?

Jeonju All That Barbecue (올댓바베큐) Salad Buffet | meheartseoul.blogspot.com
Nope, you're wrong! The other side is also part of this restaurant.
It's a super big restaurant (with 2 wings).

Buffet spread is at the middle of the restaurant.

Simple salad with superb and special taste.

They failed to attract me at the first sight! I just took a bit for the sake of trying. To my surprise, they really exceeded my expectations. I might fail to express or describe them, but trust me they really taste delicious! The best salad I ever had!

I remember the first taste of mashed pumpkin salad... so smooth, but they purposely added some small bite sized pumpkin and nuts for you to exercise your mouth a bit.

Simple but perfect combination of cold silken tofu with bonito flakes (and mayonnaise?) tasted heavenly in my mouth.

Go for maple mango for fruit salad.... this sweet-savory salad will sure delight your taste bud!   the t  and at that moment I knew that I'll be missing this taste and cry to have them again! If you’ve ever been there, you would know why I said so...

I think they're really specialise in creating salads. No wonder it's so crowded even just salad buffet.

Yogurt, Lychee, Banana and Rambutan
(I'm quite surprised to see rambutan in Korea!)

Jeonju All That Barbecue (올댓바베큐) Salad Buffet | meheartseoul.blogspot.com
Juicy and sweet rambutan.

But sadly, my most favorite corner for buffet (dessert corner) only have brownies and cookies with whipping cream and cream cheese.

Jeonju All That Barbecue (올댓바베큐) Salad Buffet | meheartseoul.blogspot.com
More brownies and cookies to go with ice-cream to satisfy my sweet tooth!
Actually they have chocolate fondue beside coffee dispensers to dip marshmallow and banana. But, I don't like marshmallow, and too troublesome to peel the banana as it might get messy or mashed banana because there's no 'head' to peel off the skin (they're cut in bite sizes like those in fruit corner).

Jeonju All That Barbecue (올댓바베큐) Salad Buffet | meheartseoul.blogspot.com
Colombia Patio Bonito | Brazil Cerrado | Guatemala Antigua coffee.

Coffee lovers must be happy to see these 3 types of coffee. My hubby tried them, but it's useless to ask him how's the taste, as he'll simply reply: "OK lor" or "I forgot ler!"

No tea selection, I only found tea cookies.... at least they're aware that some of their guests are tea and dessert lovers (like me) :P

Sweet and sour meat, Garlic soysauce chicken, Chicken cutlet,
Fried Rice, Wedges, Cajun mac & cheese, and Jajangmyeon.

Everything on the plate tasted delicious. Love the real taste of garlic and soysauce flavor in almost every bite of this Korean-style fried chicken! The second place: Crunchy meat with a tangy sweet and sour sauces. 냠냠냠~!!!

Isn't it lovely price for fresh salad buffet with variety foods and desserts to tame your tummy?! Some more, it's inside shopping mall with air con and nice clean environment.
Where can I find it in Singapore? A bowl of simple vegetable salad (without meat) with normal salad dressings will cost you at least $5.00 or more. ㅠㅠ
