[Yeongju] Quaint Museom Hanok Village (영주 무섬마을) Part 2

Yeongju Museom Hanok Village - a must visit Tourist Attraction in Yeongju | by Meheartseoul Manjukje (만죽재 고택 / 晩竹赍古宅)

Folklore Material No. 93, Manjukje (만죽재 고택) is the oldest 
traditional house located at the heart of Museom village.

 Manjukje was built in 1666 (7th year of King Heonjong's reign) 
by Bak Su (박수 /朴檖), the father of the Bannam Bak (반남박씨 / 潘南朴氏).

Visitors can witness the integrity and spirit of classical scholars who strove
to live idyllic and focuses of society of the seonbi.
Geomuguan (거무구안 / 居無求安), means forgoing comfort and convenience in life.

 This 5 kan house is divided into two functional areas: Anchae (main house)
and Sarangchae (male's quarter), which surrounded the court.
Anchae has Anbang (lady's quarter), kitchen, servant's quarter and storage room.

Can you see the pole / hook on the top left corner?
These doors are designed to be separated, and you can hang them 
using the hook (see the photo here). 
It gives better air ventilation especially in hot summer.

Kim Hwi-geol's / Manun House (김휘걸 가옥

Nearby Manjukje is Manun House, built in the early 19th century and named after Kim Hwi-geol (penname, 만운 = Manun ). 

The house later became the home of the wife of the famous poet Jo Ji-hun. Ji-hun stayed in this house quite often during early days of their marriage. He wrote a poem “Byeolli” (별리 / 別離 / Farewell), expressing the beauty of Museom Village is well known.

It's called Ggachigumeongjip because it has 2 holes for ventilation 
at the ends of the roof-ridge
